Our day with KTLA
At
6:00 A.M. on November 10, 2003 the KTLA television van pulled into Shadow
Mountain Stables. It was a live broadcast featuring Arctic White in his
California television debut.
Before the lights-camera-action, we walked him behind the whirl of the KTLA
generator as the TV crew set up. He seemed to enjoy the excitement and
stood patiently taking it all in.
What a perfect demeanor and disposition for a stallion! He seemed to
love all the attention. He even looked right into the camera on queue.
For two hours of pictures and interviews, Arctic worked for the
camera. He cantered and turned on his handler's prompts, stopping and
coming forward when asked. Even the news reporter, Gayle Anderson,
reached into the show pen to get closer and to interact with
this magnificent stallion. We were very proud of Gayle.
During
the second hour, White Shadow, Arctic's half brother, came up to Arctic for the
first time to say hello. We all watched live to see what our stallion
would do with their introduction. Arctic was a perfect "big
brother", tender, quiet and calm. They enjoyed the moment while
the TV anchors back at the studio commented on their bright white colors!
After the live broadcast, Gayle interviews Jan for a segment on the ten
o'clock news later that evening.
It was a rewarding day for everyone. We'd like to thank Gayle Anderson
and her great camera crew and Sara Carter of the Daily Bulletin who first
"broke" the story in California and joined us for the
broadcast.
Watch for her follow-up story to the front page article published October
11. Jan and Mark want to personally thank Channel 5 for airing this
wonderful story and the Daily Bulletin for getting the news of the White
Thoroughbreds of Norco out to the community.
